NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR LAW REPORTING
Position: Assistant System Administrator(1 Position)  

Terms of Service : 3 year contract with prospects of renewal.

Salary : According to council scales

Under the direction of the System Administrator, the Assistant System Administrator will be responsible for all aspects of the computer network. The administrator will ensure all hardware and software at NCLR is working properly, and provide user support to members of staff.  

Key responsibilities
In accordance with NCLR’s ICT Policy;

  • Installation and troubleshooting of all ICT hardware and Software;
  • Configuring and setting up space for web-based projects;
  • Setting up of email accounts & mailing lists;
  • Maintenance of mail server(s);
  • Implementation of intranet/extranet security using firewalls & other authorization systems;
  • Performing periodic backups of data;
  • Maintenance of all NCLR owned computers with latest security, virus software ;
  • Maintenance of printers and print servers;
  • Preparation of document templates for eKLR;
  • Creating, editing and managing electronic documents;
  • Uploading, updating, managing and disseminating documents;
  • Carrying out audit, troubleshooting and integrity queries on data and inventory and
  • Provide user support.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this position, the successful candidate will be required to be in posession of the following:
  • Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or an equivalent qualification;
  • Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft networking, Windows 2000/2003, XP/Vista, Microsoft Exchange 2003 & 2007, Antivirus software, Anti-spam software;
  • Demonstrated professional competence in ICT;
  • 2 years work experience of design, installation and maintenance of Local and Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN);
  • Pursuing a qualification in Cisco Certification and  
  • Self motivating and able to manage multiple deliverables with little supervision.
